Sony is set release a new model of its Walkman MP3 player, dubbed the Z1000, to compete directly with iPod Touch. The device will feature a 4.3 inch touchscreen, a microHDMI port for watching stored media on televisions, and sharing capabilities with other Sony devices. The Walkman will run on Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, which will allow Android apps to be downloaded and run on the device, just as Apple’s iPod Touch can run apps from the iTunes App Store.
