This year will see a further shake-out in the smartphone space. RIM is in a perilous position. Even die-hard BlackBerry users are migrating to iPhone and Android alternatives, and BlackBerrys are likely to become relics of the noughties, like Big Brother, non-flatscreen TVs and privacy. RIM's situation is similar to the one Motorola found itself in a few years ago: overtaken, outmoded and out-innovated.
