The music industry finds itself in a familiar situation. As in recent years, digital sales will continue to increase during 2012, but not by enough to offset the continuing decline in physical. Music streaming will continue to be an interesting area, with Spotify's growth continuing and the service attracting more premium users and subsequently more revenue. The failure of Beyond Oblivion, the News-Corp backed streaming startup that raised USD87m but failed to ink the deals needed to bring a service to market, proves that the sector continues to be hostile.
