Code loophole enables Siri for iPhone 4

Mon Dec 19 2011, 12:00 PM

Apple’s voice-recognition personal-assistant software, Siri, is now available on iOS devices other than its native iPhone 4S, due to its code being released unencrypted in iOS 5.0.1. This means that it is now possible, and legal, for hackers to port Siri to older version of the iPhone, and other devices. Apple may decide to fix this loophole when it next updates iOS 5 but for the time being, iPhone users who have chosen to jailbreak their devices may soon be able to use Siri.
