Yandex launches iOS search app
Russian search engine Yandex has added a free iPhone search app to its iOS app portfolio, which currently includes free apps for maps, email, taxi services, metro and train times and money and market monitoring. Yandex is Russia’s most visited website, also operating in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Turkey. “The Yandex for iPhone application was developed from a prototype that won our in-house mobile product competition,” says project manager Konstantin Smetankin. Initially, it was a simple search app that the end user could customize to meet their personal needs. Then, we took the idea to another level and developed Yandex for iPhone, an app we really wanted to use.”
