YouTube has unveiled the biggest redesign in its history, updating its desktop user interface to make it more social as it attempts to drive traffic to the website and boost user numbers. The overhaul places a greater focus on content channels, after the firm launched nearly 100 channels with a raft of content partners in November. Google’s attempts to wring a profit out of the popular online video website is well documented, and the firm has ramped up its efforts in recent months as CEO Larry Page targets social as a key element in the firm’s future success.
