Google has added hardware-accelerated 3D graphics to the satellite and ‘street view’ modes of its Google Maps service, using WebGL technology to deliver enhanced quality and functionality. The update has been rolled out worldwide, but is only available to users with the Chrome 14+ or Firefox 8+ Beta browsers and higher-spec graphics cards.
