Deloitte is reportedly working with a number of music publishers, distributors and royalty collectors to create a central database of music rights owners. A Reuters article claims the consultancy is in discussions with firms including Universal Music Publishing and Amazon to create a global "repertoire database" at the request of the European Commission. The move is designed to clear up confusion surrounding licensing fees and royalties to rights owners, with the current system being described as long and complex.
