Acer says it is planning to scale back its range of netbooks in favour of Android-based tablets, with plans to launch two or three new tablets in the first half of the year. The tablets will feature 7-inch and 12-inch screens and Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, instead of the popular ARM processors used by the majority of tablet manufacturers. Acer's first tablet, a 12-inch device costing less than USD1,000, was discontinued in July after disappointing sales.
