Google is set to release a Google-branded Chrome OS netbook to "friends and family" this year, but the operating system won't reach consumers until 2011, according to Engadget. The website's sources say the OS is still in beta so the netbook will be aimed at the developer or early adopter community and is rumoured to be powered by an Intel Atom Pine Trail processor. Some 75,000 netbook units are reportedly being manufactured by Taiwan ODM Inventec.
