Amazon is now using cloud computing services provided by its subsidiary Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company began planning the move a year ago and has already begun consolidating and virtualizing its IT department. The process is expected to be completed within the next 18 months. AWS has offered specialised cloud solutions for two years, but its parent company claims it made the decision to use the service independently.
