One in four US households have no landline

One in four US households do not have a landline and rely solely on mobile phones, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Research from the second half of 2009 revealed 24.5% of households only use mobile phones, up from 22.7% during the first half of 2009. The increasing abandonment of landlines means 23% of adults, or 52m people, live in households with only a mobile phone.
