Desktops will be irrelevant in three years, claims Google

Google believes mobile devices will render desktop PCs irrelevant in the next three years by replacing them as the primary means of researching and consuming information online. Speaking at the Digital Landscapes conference in Dublin, Google's VP of global ad operations, John Herlihy, claims the opportunity offered by cloud computing means every mobile device will be able to run rapid-scale apps, making information universally available.
