After months of speculation Google has launched its Nexus One smartphone, marking the search giant’s first push into the hardware market. The Google-branded Android device, which will directly compete with Apple’s iPhone, will go on sale in the US from this week via a new Google-hosted web store. Google says it expects to add more devices to the store in the future, hinting at a new focus on hardware innovation.
