Gawker Media claims ad revenues up 35%

Gawker Media's ad revenues are up 35% in the first half of the year according to publisher Nick Denton, indicating that the company is managing to buck the advertising recession. Denton laid off 19 writers and reduced his blogging empire from 13 titles to nine after predicting in December that there would be a 40% decline in US advertising.
