Deutsche Telekom is reportedly looking to swap UK operator T-Mobile with an asset in another country rather than sell the business or merge it with a UK rival. According to reports in the Financial Times, the telecoms operator is keen to lessen the blow of pulling out of the UK market by acquiring an asset in central or Eastern Europe. CEO René Obermann is thought to consider Vodafone Turkey an ideal swap, as it would complement Deutsche’s purchase last year of Greece’s OTE.
