UK online ad spend up despite overall slump

Spending on internet advertising rose 19.1% year-on-year to GBP3.6bn (USD5.9bn) in 2008 despite a 4% fall in overall ad spend in the UK, according to figures from the Advertising Association. The internet and cinema were the only categories to experience ad spending growth in 2008, with all other media undergoing decline due to difficult economic conditions.
