Smartphones go open source

The trend towards open source operating systems is set to continue, with the number of smartphones that come shipped with an open source system set to rise by 110% over the next five years, according to Juniper Research. The findings predict that the number of such smartphones will increase from 106m this year to 223m by 2014 as operating systems and applications play a growing role in handset choice.
