Ericsson is set to appoint current CFO, Hans Vestburg, as its next president and CEO. According to a BusinessWeek report, Vestburg will take up the role in January 2010, replacing outgoing CEO Carl-Eric Svanberg, who will become chairman of BP.
Vestburg says he is not planning additional cost cuts at Ericsson and refused to comment on the potential dissolution of Sony-Ericsson. “What we are very focused on is that we give them the right support so they can return to profit,” Vestburg says of the joint venture.
