Highwinds unveils deals and raises USD55m for CDN service

Content delivery network Highwinds Network Group has raised USD55m in its first round of equity funding, from General Catalyst Partners and Alta Communications. Highwinds will use the funds to develop its RollingThunder service. The Florida-based company is also partnering with two Canadian firms, Digital Rapids Corporation and Knack Networks, to provide live and on-demand IPTV services.
