The Amazon-owned online film site, the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com), is acquiring online independent film distributor, Withoutabox, for an undisclosed sum. The deal, which allows the independent to continue to operate as a standalone operation, is a good one for the non-mainstream, audio-visual, production industry, providing it with a combined online distribution and intelligence 'hotspot'.
