Hungama Mobile is launching a Bollywood channel called 'Bollywood Express' on Maxis' mobile network. Financial details were not disclosed, although the channel will be subscription based so a revenue share seems likely. No pricing scheme has been announced for subscriptions. The India-based content provider is supplying movie clips, trailers and songs to the new channel. Hungama will work up to broadcasting live shows and full-length movies on the mobile TV channel, which will be dubbed for those in Malaysia. Hungama's COO, Saleem Mobhani, hopes to be able to sell the channel on other networks, with expectations that 27 of 30 3G operators will offer 'Bollywood Express' by Sep. Some feel that this is too ambitious, but it seems likely that many networks will be keen on obtaining the content, which should have great appeal to those in emerging markets.
