Microsoft and Facebook partner in exclusive ad deal

Following Google’s exclusive advertising deal with MySpace, Microsoft is announcing an alliance with Facebook, which makes it the social networking company’s exclusive advertising partner. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Microsoft will provide banner advertising and sponsored links on Facebook’s site, with future differentiating ad initiatives also planned. Similar to the Google-MySpace tie-up, the ads will be targeted and supposedly relevant to the user. Facebook currently claims 9m registered users and the ads are likely to begin appearing in early Q4.
